What’s better than settling down in the pub, getting a pint in your hand and spending the day watching some seriously gripping Test Match cricket? Not a lot! Plenty of the best sports bars have cricket on all day but as far as we’re concerned, play is best enjoyed in the pub, especially during The Ashes. That said, cricket’s not a massive pub sport these days so save yourself from strolling around searching for pubs showing cricket and take a look at our recommendations below. This summer is huge for the sport so find pubs showing IPL and pubs showing the Ashes nearby right now!
Pubs & Bars
Slug And Lettuce Leicester Square
Westminster
Right in the heart of town, Slug and Lettuce in Leicester Square is beginning to get quite a name as a bar showing cricket. Due to the two floor layout, they often put Test Matches and ODIs on the three screens upstairs whilst the bar continues to function normally downstairs. It's a big venue so there's plenty of room, but crucially, the new manager is a big cricket fan so it's a first point of reference if you're after live cricket on TV! As with any Slug and Lettuce, there's a very decent food menu so you don't need to worry that the game might have you there all day!
Merchant
London
"Big on Beer. Big on Sport." So says the Merchant's website. To that you can add "Big on the Ashes" for the summer of 2013 and "Big on Cricket" for the summers beyond... An awesome selection of drinks including various lager and ale offerings from Britain (at least one of which comes from their sister pub - the Florence - in Herne Hill. With 25% off food between 12 and 4 during the week, you'd be a bigger chump than Rodney Marsh if you missed it.
