San Remo Hotel

The San Remo pub has been in the hands of the same family for three quarters of a century. Tom Williams bought the pub back in 1941. At this time the till was lucky to see two and six in a day – sadly, if Grandad’s to be believed, much of it on the slate. Still, the hotel grew steadily, along with the town of San Remo. Tom’s son Lyle inherited it and it became known locally as “Lyle’s”. He handed it down to his son Peter and now he and his wife Colleen steer the ship. Along the way, the Sanny has extended its hospitality to three prime ministers, a duke or two, an assortment of sports stars, and our cherished locals. We’ve seen off bush fires, blackouts and barmy chefs and we’ve incubated a rock band – “Skyhooks”. Oh, and a good-natured argument in the bar produced the town’s biggest annual event – the Channel Challenge. So for a well-kept bar, great food, family entertainment, live sport and a great atmosphere, come down and visit us at the San Remo pub.
